It came as a big shock to the entire army when that General accepted that he had tampered with his birth-records at the time of his first appointment. He had changed his date of birth so as to show himself to be 3 years younger by tampering with the figures very carefully. At first glance, it was barely detectable, however on further inspection, it was quite apparent. At the time of enrollment, the maximum age limit was 23 years. Because he had exceeded the age limit, he altered his birth certificate in order to qualify.
In the Army he was known as the the ‘Tough General’ and a hard taskmaster. Once you got to know him a little better he was very easy to get along with. He didn’t suffer fools and loved to rule with an iron fist. He was physically daunting and set an example of himself. However this single fault, caused his career to be untarnished. John was a thorough employee. He was always on time to office. He worked hard, even extra hours if necessary, so that nothing was put off for tomorrow. All of his co-workers admired and liked him, yet they were unaware of how miserable his private life was.
It was the result of a mismatched marriage. His wife was very dominating and demanding. She expected him to take her out every day. She would call him while he was at the office with numerous threats of retreating to her parent’s house if he was not home early. She actually phoned his employer every other day to ask if he’d let John off early, with one excuse or another. One day he got a call from his wife who threatened to take him to court. She said that their marriage-records were missing and she was certain that he had destroyed them to get rid of her.
This particular story takes place about two years ago. My friend Chris and I had gone to a party and were on our way home. I was behind the wheel of my vehicle driving, and he was riding passenger. As we approached his house the flashing lights of the police cruiser behind us were unmistakable. I pulled over and waited for the officer. We were very surprised when the officer pulled out his gun. He bagan yelling at us. He told us to get out of the car but to keep our hands where he could see them. He told us that we better get out slowly. If we did anything where he felt in danger he would have to shoot. We were extremely surprised, but we complied with the officer’s wants. I was surprised because my name is nowhere in the police records of our city.
As it turned out, the cops mistook me for a dope dealer. Afterwards, they informed me my vehicle fit the description of a dealer’s car to a ‘T’. We all had a good laugh afterwards as we continued on our way to my friends house.
